About Rudi de Wet, is our man with vision, and has his hands in many pies. From Lift Installations, to owning a notable Wholesale Nursery, the sky is the limit for Rudi. He met Philippa in 2013 and after listening to one of her talks, was inspired enough to offer her a job with Welkin Projects, as their Disability & Diversity Consultant, with a view to launching a division to encourage transformation and diversity in the workplace. His heart specifically resonated with the disability inclusion workshop. As a man with dyslexia, he never realised that dyslexia was considered a disability, let alone the list of many other non-visible disabilities that were mentioned in the workshop. More to the point, when looking on the bright side of his disability, he felt that more people should become aware and they should be given the opportunity to proudly disclose their disabilities. Not only will they have a sense of freedom through their disclosures but be given reasonable accommodation in order to maximize their full potential.

About Philippa Robertson Smith is a proudly South African, female entrepreneur and is passionate about the empowerment of others, embracing diversity and the inclusion of the disabled into the workplace. Through her Mighty Mom initiative, Philippa, in partnership with Pick n Pay, began a journey of empowering women in 2008. This took place through breakfast seminars, lunches, & conferences. The philosophy was simple; “If Moms are the heart of the home, it would then stand to reason that they would be the heartbeat of the nation, and collectively they could do so much more. Pick n Pay pay off line – Inspired by You, tired nicely into the theme at the time. Her travellers, however, opened the doors to a broader based understanding of the inequality, discrimination and prejudice that exists as a whole, and went on to join Welkin Projects as a Disability & Diversity Consultant. Her role has been to connect with Corporate SA with the hope of changing people’s minds to the stereotyping, prejudice and discrimination that exists. Her attitude is; “ We cannot change the world, but if we can change just one mind, the battle is already won”. Our discrimination will then start to shrink through our six degrees of separation. Philippa is a notable for her speaking and is committed to helping groups and individuals realize their maximum potential.
